Pattern Highlight from Quiltwoman Blog

In the last blog I talked about the pattern trends for July. It was a list of the top 20 patterns purchased during the month. In case you missed the post here is a link.

This week I wanted to highlight more of the patterns purchased by our customers. These didn’t make the top 20 last month but I definitely think that they are worth a mention.

The first pattern I am going to highlight is Strippy Whippy. I don’t know about you but I love precut fabrics….. especially Jelly Rolls! I am always looking for something fun ...

a unicorn trip from Making A Lather

Yesterday, was the day to deliver the unicorn quilt to my Granddaughter that I finished last week.  It was a lovely day for a drive, and we had hubbie's doctor appointment in Indy, which feels like half way to Martinsville, so we went to present the quilt to her. They surprised us with a visit on Sunday,  Father's day, and I didn't have the label on it, so I kept it a secret.
I made this label for it.

She seemed to really love it. I was gifted with a few hugs.

That makes everything better.
Hubby ...

unicorn finish from Making A Lather

The unicorn quilt is finally done. I started this for my Granddaughter the fall of 2018. I didn't have a pattern, but, I had a panel and a layer cake. I prefer mindless sewing, so, I kept procrastinating. There is a certain amount of guilt that goes with procrastinating, and, that was the motivation to finally put my head down and get this done. And, it will be a good excuse to see my Grandchildren. It is about 70 x 80. I used a plain pink sheet for the back. I used a simple stipple with a few flowers ...

Ufo progress from Making A Lather

I have finished 2 ufos so far for June and I have finished 10 for the year. The goal for ufos and the phd 2020 was 12. However, not all the ufos I have finished, were on my original list. I'm not sure how that counts. But, it has motivated me for sure. Countryside cottage is here. And silent night is here.

I've made progress on a few other projects from the list. Frolic mystery and unicorn quilt are ready to be quilted.

I am moving the rainbow projects started this year along - shine and row x row ...

June goals from Making A Lather

I like the beginning of a month, and a chance to set goals and see them finish.... or just progress. I am not overwhelmed with a month. It is a good time period for me to focus and then, let go if I need to move on to something else.

It's time to finish my double wedding ring. It looks sad here. It has been neglected. I think I have 3 sections to join together and then, the top is done.

I want to quilt a joann block of  the month called countryside cottage. The top and back are ...

unicorn quilt goal from Making A Lather

I have seen some great humor come out of the pandemic. It helps to laugh.

One of my one monthly goals for May, was to make headway on the unicorn quilt. I have not wanted to work on this at all. I don't have a pattern and have already demonstrated my lack of math skills in figuring the piecing. I measure, and measure, and calculate, and cut, what I need. And... it doesn't fit.
I have most of the blocks done I think. I am using a layer cake and a panel. I am using a background white ...

May goals from Making A Lather

It is a new month ( finally). Time to focus on 3 UFos for the month of May. I want to make a top of the unicorn quilt I started 2 years ago for my Granddaughter. I am winging it for the pattern. I have a unicorn panel and I want to make it bigger.

I think I made birch trees last year as part of the rainbow scrap challenge, and it is ready to quilt.

I have another quilt in the "to be quilted" pile that I want to quilt this month. It was a block of the month with ...

The Unicorn Quilt - The Last Quilt For 2019 from Angel Scraps Quilting

I worked right up until Christmas and finished this quilt which is a Christmas gift for a 3 1/2 year old:

Here are pillow cases to match this quilt and the 2 previous quilts.  All 3 are going to siblings.

Here are the 2 previous quilts.

We will celebrate Christmas with these three children tomorrow, the day after Christmas.

I am so glad to have these quilts done and am ready to move on to something else...... or maybe just take a break from quilting for a while!

Merry Christmas!

November goals from Making A Lather

It's November and time for a new one monthly goal. Yesterday, I blogged about finishing all the blocks for my October goal. For the month of November, I want to arrange my swap basket blocks into a top. I could set them block to block...

or on point...

Last year, about this time, I was working on a quilt for my Granddaughter. I don't remember what distracted me, but, this is as far as I sewed.  I had a panel and a layer cake to match.

I need to lay it all out again, and try to remember ...
